ACM GRADUATE INTERVIEW - Tracey Robinson

01/05/2012

A long distance runner herself, Tracey enjoyed consulting with Michelle Bridges on her Michelle Bridges 12 Week Body Transformation running program

What first interested you about massage?

I have always held a strong interest in sports, nutrition and general health. As a long distance runner (State and National level) I always incorporated massage as part of my recovery routine and found it helped me reach my optimal performance.

"I am a firm believer that I would never have reached my running achievements without massage keeping my body maintained and balanced."

How long have you been massaging?

Approx. 10 years. I started my business TLR Sports Massage about 12 months ago and since then I have watched it grow significantly. I am currently working part-time across two practices, one at Elite Chiropractic 203 Avoca St, Randwick  (www.elitechiropractic.com.au), and Natural Health Clinic at 100 Walker St, North Sydney. I enjoy working with other health professionals such as nutritionists, psychologists and exercise rehab specialists.

What do you enjoy most about massaging?

Working with athletes and everyday sports people and assisting them to reach optimal performance through effective pre event and post event recovery treatments. It’s very rewarding to help people and make them feel better.

What was your experience at ACM like?

My experience with ACM was brilliant. I attended both Bendigo and Sydney campuses.

How have your studies at ACM assisted preparing you for working in the massage industry?

"My studies at ACM assisted me greatly and have been integral to my professional development."

What advice would you give aspiring massage therapists?

Massage has various modalities – find what you are passionate about and specialise. Ensure you give every client 100% and never sacrifice professionalism. I also believe it is important to be open towards other therapies – the integrated approach to health and injury prevention is one of my main passions.

What has been the highlight of your career so far?

Working with many elite athletes from various sports…. I recently consulted on injury prevention and self massage techniques for Michelle Bridges 12 Week Body Transformation (12WBT) running program – that was a great experience. Everyday is a blast.
