ACM supports students seeking exemptions on the basis of their previous studies and experience
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
The Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process is provided by the College to minimise time and cost to students who can provide evidence of competencies currently held for a given subject/course.
All applications for RPL will be considered on an individual basis by the Academic Board. The Academic Board meets every two weeks during the academic year.
Applications for RPL may only be made on the RPL Application Form provided by ACM. The application must be accompanied by a non-refundable fee of $350. All sections must be completed and relevant documentation supporting this application must be attached.
The RPL application form must be adhered to when making an application to the RPL assessor. The assessment will be based on formal training in a university course or training in a similar course at a similar college/institution and/or evidence of relevant industry experience.
Once the RPL process has been completed you will receive written confirmation from the Administration Office.
Your Application will fall into one of the following categories:
Successful Recognition
Successful recognition means that the application was successful and a full subject credit transfer has been granted. There is no lecture attendance, assessment or financial obligation for the subject.
Challenge Assessment
Challenge assessment means that the application may be deemed successful on the satisfactory completion of a skills and/or knowledge assessment for the subject. The assessment may be in the form of written assignment, physical demonstration, written exam or a combination of the above. An additional fee is required which must be paid prior to attempting the assessment and covers the individualised attention in preparation and marking of the assessment.
Unsuccessful Recognition
Unsuccessful recognition means that there was not sufficient evidence to support successful recognition. Enrolment in the subject is required.
