LORT SMITH - Melbourne VIC
Lort Smith is looking for a partnership between Evolve College and Lort Smith to offer our staff massages as part of an ongoing wellness package. This will also assist your students in getting their required hours for the course. By way of background, Lort Smith is an iconic Melbourne institution.
Since 1936, Lort Smith has provided enduring positive impact on people, their animals and the community. Lort Smith’s mission is to improve the health and happiness of animals and the people who care for them (irrespective of their personal circumstances).
Today, Lort Smith is the busiest animal hospital in Australia (employing more than 60 veterinarians and 120 veterinary nurses who provide approximately 50,000 veterinary interactions per annum). Each year, Lort Smith assists in excess of 25,000 animals.
Our core focus is to support people of lesser means by providing high quality subsidized veterinary care. Lort Smith also operates an adoption centre that exclusively re-homes 1,000 surrendered animals each year and manages a suite of community outreach programs supporting the pets of people in crisis, most notably:
• Emergency boarding for the pets of domestic violence victims,
• Pet therapy providing comfort to patients/residence of more than 60 health and aged care institutions including the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in Melbourne, the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne and the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Centre in Melbourne and
• Mates for Inmates, a program where inmates of the Dame Phyllis Frost Correctional Facility in Melbourne are rehabilitated with the support of Lort Smith adoption dogs.
The organization is confident in saying on a global scale, Lort Smith is unique. Through all our programs, Lort Smith delivers tangible social impact uniquely through the care of animals. For more information please check out our website www.lortsmith.com
As you can imagine, some of this work can take an emotional toll on our staff. We need to keep our staff healthy and happy to ensure the continuation of our important services to the community. I would love to be able to offer them a regular massage – even just 15 mins in a quite space to recharge. I hope this is something Evolve students and trainers can assist us with. I look forward to hearing from you once you have spoken to your trainers. Thank you again for your time today. Kind regards Lee Thomas
