Enrolment process

  • Fees must accompany an enrolment.
  • Students can enrol by calling the Course Enrolment Line on 1300 880 885, online at www.studymassage.com.au or by completing the Enrolment Form provided.
  • Substantial discounts apply for up front payment of full course fees.

Admission requirements

  • Students must be 16 years of age or over on commencement of their studies.

Academic staff

  • The Australian College of Massage ensures excellence in teaching standards through its selection of highly qualified and experienced lecturers who are committed to raising the standards of massage therapy.
  • All lecturers have extensive clinical experience as well as HLT50307 Diploma or Remedial Massage and TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment qualifications (or equivalent).

Student support

  • The Student Services department is responsible for the care of students and helps with all aspects of their welfare, including career advice, study skills counselling, academic issues such as course planning, Austudy details and other study-related issues.
  • Where possible, a range of support services or appropriate referrals will be provided to participants with special needs.

Language literacy & numeracy

  • ACM understands that all students are individuals with different life experiences and literacy and numeracy skills vary.
  • ACM recognises that reading, writing, listening, speaking and understanding mathematical concepts and processes are integral skills required for work and are therefore an important component of training.
  • ACM encourages students with Language Literacy or Numeracy concerns to discuss this with our Student Support Officer. A range of support services can be provided for the student upon request. ACCESS & EQUITY:
  • ACM applies access and equity principles and will provide information, advice and support services to assist students to identify and achieve their desired outcomes.
  • ACM fosters equality and access in a training environment that is fair and conducive to learning at all levels. This means that all of our students are entitled to the best possible training delivery.
  • It is unlawful to discriminate on the basis of the following attributes: ethnicity, gender, age, marital status, religious belief, sexual orientation, physical or intellectual impairment, or personal association.
  • All ACM staff and lecturers are required to have an awareness and understanding of access and equity issues and are required to demonstrate access and equity principles in all dealings with students.
  • If a student believes they have been treated unfairly by an ACM staff member, lecturer or representative, they can contact our Student Support Officer.

Recognition of prior learning (RPL)

  • Applications for RPL may only be made on the RPL Application form and must be accompanied by a non-refundable fee of $350.
  • If the RPL Application is successful the student will be given a credit for the subject without attendance or assessment.
  • The RPL application form must be adhered to when making an application to the RPL assessor. The assessment will be based on formal training in a university course or training in a similar course at a similar college/institution and/or evidence of relevant industry experience.

Mutual recognition

  • Mutual Recognition means that all AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by other registered training organisations will be fully recognised by ACM in the form of a Credit Transfer (CT).
  • ACM does this by recognising relevant competencies where they exist as discrete entities within subjects delivered by ACM. National recognition can only be given for a unit of competency which bears the same identification code.
  • Applications for Mutual Recognition may only be made using the Mutual Recognition Application form and must be accompanied by a non-refundable fee of $100.

Assessment

  • Assessment for all subjects is compulsory.
  • Subjects are assessed by way of assessment tasks. Details of assessment procedures are provided with your course material.
  •  If a student fails an assessment they will be permitted to revise or resubmit/resit their assessment. Resitting an assessment as part of a Massage Practice program will incur a fee of $250.
  •  If a student fails to submit an assessment task for a period of six months, their student status may be revoked if no attempt is made to give reasons in writing. Should a student lose his/her student status for any reason and wishes to be re-instated a $100 fee will be applicable.

Certification

  • A Subject Certificate will be awarded on successful completion of each subject within a course.
  • Where applicable, a Statement of Attainment will be awarded on completion of a cluster of subjects.
  • A Qualification Certificate and an official Academic Transcript will be awarded on successful completion of each course.
  • A fee of $50 applies for re-issuing of a Certificate.
  • A fee of $10 applies for re-issuing of a Statement of Attainment or official Academic Transcript.

Massage practice program

  • Students are required to achieve practical competence before being awarded their certificate. To achieve this, the College has established a network of massage practice programs.
  • It is the student’s responsibility to attain the practical expertise from the massage practice program which may involve some travel commitment.
  • Once a student has confirmed their attendance at a massage practice program and the student requests to transfer a fee of $250 will be applicable.

Clinical practice

  • Students should not charge money for their services before obtaining the minimum qualification of Certificate IV in Massage Therapy Practice.
  • Students should be aware that if they charge money while practicing skills before completion of the course they may be risking claims for damages against them if complications arise. Should this eventuate they will incur the entire liability personally.

Subject & course fees

  • Fees are payable on enrolment and are viewable via ACM’s Enrolment Form or website - www.studymassage.com.au
  • Fees are subject to change and students are required to confirm current fees prior to enrolment or re- enrolment. This can be done by contacting the College Administration or referring to ACM’s website.
  • Fees include an administration fee of $100 per subject which is included in the subject fee and is non-refundable.
  • The Australian College of Massage reserves the right to cancel a subject or course and should this occur the student will be offered a full refund.
  • Enrolments are processed in the order they are received. The College will supply a letter as confirmation of enrolment.
  • Students must advise the College Administration of their intention to defer. Recommencement of studies requires payment of an administration fee of $100.
  • Should a student lose his/her student status for any reason and wishes to be re-instated a $100 fee will be applicable.
  • Students are required to confirm current fees and any additional costs must be met prior to recommencement due to deferment, withdrawal or loss of student status.

Refunds & transfers

  • There is a ten day money-back guarantee (minus the administration fee). This applies from the date the College sends your Confirmation of Registration letter and all goods received must be returned to the College in original condition. This guarantee is not applicable when an enrolment is received within 10 days of commencement of an on-campus class. This guarantee does not apply to the Introductory Massage Course (on-campus).
  • The Introductory Massage Course (on-campus) fee is non-refundable.
  • Any fees held in credit are non-refundable and non-transferable to another person. 
  • A student is able to request a transfer to another course timetable to continue their studies (at no cost) and is based on availability of a place within the requested course timetable.
  • Where the student breaches ACM’s Policies and Procedures no refund is payable.

Tax deductible fees

  • The course fees are tax deductible as self education expenses provided the education for which the expenses is incurred are directly relevant to a student’s current employment position.
  • Students should consult their tax adviser to determine deductibility of their expenses.

Grievance, complaints & appeals

  • ACM is committed to facilitating a learning process that is both beneficial and enjoyable. ACM will deal with all grievances, complaints and appeals effectively, efficiently, professionally and confidentially. If a student has a grievance or complaint that is affecting their ability to complete their training program, it is important to let their lecturer know of the problem. Alternatively, they are encouraged to contact ACM ‘s Student Support Officer.
  • Each grievance/complaint/appeal is recorded in writing with details of the process undertaken to resolve the case and its outcome. If a grievance, complaint or appeal cannot be immediately resolved then it is recommended the student complete a grievance form available from the College.
  • The College reserves the right to exclude a student from further participation in the course where, in the opinion of the College Administration, the student has brought or been likely to bring the practice of massage or the Australian College of Massage into disrepute.

Student records & privacy

  • In compliance with the Privacy Amendment (Private Sector) Act 2000, the information requested by ACM during the enrolment process will be used for purposes associated with a student’s enrolment only. This information is entered into the College database and remains confidential.
  • Any change of address, phone number or other relevant information must be provided to the College Administration so that all student records remain up-to-date and accurate.
  • All students have a right to view their personal student file and may do so upon request to the College Administration in writing. Access will only be granted once a student can confirm their identification. Student Access to the file will be granted within 2 days of confirming the student’s identification.
  • Access to a student file by a third party other than College Administration and Staff can only be provided with the written consent of the individual student.

Academic misconduct

  • Students at ACM are expected to maintain the highest standards of academic conduct. ACM appreciates that most students conduct themselves with integrity and are disturbed when they observe others cheating. ACM will provide information to assist students in avoiding unintentional plagiarism and/or cheating.
  • Academic misconduct is considered a serious offence at ACM. For students who have been deemed to intentionally plagiarise/cheat, it may result in being suspended, or permanently removed from the course.

Course material & timetable

  • ACM reserves the right to substitute or credit any textbooks or course materials at any time, without notice, should they become unavailable, or go out of print.
  • ACM reserves the right to amend timetables where it would be advantageous for student learning.
  • ACM reserves the right to alter any aspect of the curriculum to reflect the changing needs of the profession and to retain leadership in academic standards.
